Urban Photo Safari V: Chicago’s Near Northwest Side: East Village, Ukrainian Village – 10.23.10
Join professional photographer Paul Berg for another segment of his popular Urban Photo Safari series. This workshop will explore the Near Northwest Side of Chicago, including the East Village/Ukrainian Village neighborhoods. Settled by European immigrants in the late 19th century, this historic area of the city features many cultural landmarks.
Among the highlights of this safari: Louis Sullivan’s Holy Trinity Orthodox Cathedral, St Stanislaus and Eckhart Park.
The workshop will feature lecture, shooting and critique sections.
The field portion will offer participants numerous opportunities to sharpen their photographic skills in a culturally rich urban environment.
Requirements: Digital SLR with one lens (zoom preferred). Recommended: tripod, additional lenses, and portable strobe.

Urban Photo Safari VI: Exploring Dusk and Night Photography
The dusk and early evening hours are ideal times to take stunning photos in an urban environment. Join professional photographer Paul Berg for this hands-on seminar on how to capture beautiful images as night falls.
Paul will cover various techniques including: how to meter dusk/night scenes, using gels for corrective/creative purposes and using flash fill at night.
This seminar will be divided into three segments: lecture, shooting and critique.
The field/shooting portion will take place on Goose Island and areas surrounding the Chicago River.
Requirements: Digital SLR with one lens, tripod, cable release, portable flash unit, flash cards.
Optional: Additional lenses (wide to telephoto).
